Aktivitas Religius dan Hidup Menggereja: Studi Teologi Praktis-Empiris di Gereja Kristen Indonesia (GKI)
Abstract
Abstract. Post–COVID-19 pandemic, there have been many assumptions that church members' participation in worship and church activities has declined, but in reality, these assumptions are not always supported by adequate data and discussion. This study aims to describe the religious activities of members of the Gereja Kristen Indonesia (GKI), as a case study of an urban Protestant church, and to analyze the social characteristics of church member participation by examining its association with religiosity, spirituality, and sense of community. Using a practical theological approach and deductive quantitative survey, this study collected data from 2645 GKI church members in West Java, Central Java, and East Java using stratified random sampling. The research findings show that the church remains an important space for the expression and communication of faith. The level of church member participation in religious activities remains high. However, a closer examination of the characteristics of religious activity reveals that sense of community is the strongest attribute, surpassing mere ritual compliance or adherence to traditional rules.
